The 16 cities of the South Bay (Southern California) come together to celebrate a decade of National Day of Prayers.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Apr 03, 2008 – The Steering Committee for the South Bay National Day of Prayer is proud to announce details regarding the Tenth Anniversary of its grassroots event, The South Bay National Day of Prayer (NDP) Breakfast.

The South Bay NDP Breakfast will celebrate its 10th Anniversary in conjunction with the national event on Thursday, May 1st, 2008, 7:30-9:00 A.M., at the Torrance Marriott (Torrance, CA).

Clayton Cobb, Pastor at St. Peter’s by the Sea and Event Co-Coordinator, also announced this year’s featured speaker.  “We’re fortunate to continue our series of great speakers with Larry Rosen, President/CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, one of the largest North America.” announced Cobb.

“This will be a homecoming for Larry whose first job was as a camp director at the Torrance YMCA in 1970.  Rosen has also worked Gardena-Carson, San Pedro, Peninsula and Wilmington YMCAs.  He is a nationally known speaker and CEO who has headed the 24 branches of the Metropolitan YMCA for the last 14 years,” continued Cobb.

Some previous speakers included a Congressman (Steve Kuykendall), Senate Chaplain, movie producer (Rusty Wallace) and actor (Tom Sullivan), authors, two Olympians (Rafer Johnson, Louis Zamperini) and even a former Beirut hostage (Benjamin Weir).

Tom Gregory, Event Co-Coordinator, announced tickets would once again be only $25 with free parking.  Tables are also available.  Gregory mentioned the organizations new website, http://www.SouthBayNDP.org, will have downloadable reservation forms, posters, background and contact information.

The South Bay National Day of Prayer (NDP) Breakfast started in 1998.  It is a community response to the 1952 Act of Congress that established the National Day of Prayer (the first Thursday of May [President Reagan, 1988]) calling Americans of all faiths to pray for our community, state, and national leaders.

The South Bay NDP will host approximately 500 government, civic and business leaders, i.e., men and women from all walks of life and faiths from the 16 cities of the South Bay.  The national NDP Task Force estimates there are over 40,000 events on this day and the South Bay NDP Breakfast is considered to be in the top 5%.
