Rachel Gawith, now sole owner of the farming website, moved to Bulgaria in October 2006, from Cumbria and is involved in property sales and rentals in central Bulgaria. She has seen an increased number of British people moving out to Bulgaria for a better life style and starting smallholdings and rural businesses here. Rachel hopes to capitalise on the growing Expat community in Bulgaria and give them the opportunity to promote their produce and services to other Expats across the country.
A number of British in Bulgaria have already entered into farming, with one lady buying her own flock of sheep for milk, lamb and wood and also going into large scale melon production, another has his own cows and produces beef for restaurants and private sale, there are riding holidays, rural B&B's and of course many rural properties for sale.
Gofarmer currently has over 700 registered members with around 90 sellers listing products and services which include cattle, sheep, poultry housing, Landrovers, tractors, equestrian products, outdoor clothing, rural crafts and home reared produce delivered direct to your doorstep.
The usual cost of membership is £45.00 which enables the registered Seller to list as many products as they wish for sale for a full year. The Seller has access to their own administration area where they can add, edit or delete adverts as and when they want. Each advert can have 2 photographs placed with it. Gofarmer has a special offer for the first year of membership, allowing new members to test the way the site works and test responses to their adverts for just £5.
As well as being able to advertise their farm produce, livestock, machinery, B&B, rural services etc members can take part is discussions in the forum and read news articles and other features.
