The new qualification, the International Certificate in Risk Management, is an introduction to the theory and practice of risk management and will be available from 1 April 2008.  The course content reflects current risk management thinking, regulations and practices and how they impact businesses today.

“The new International Certificate has been updated in parallel with our new International Diploma in Risk Management, which was launched at the end of last year. The syllabus been designed to be as widely accessible as possible – both in content and delivery,” commented Steve Fowler, Chief Executive of the Institute of Risk Management (IRM).

“It is a tremendous introduction to practical enterprise risk management for anyone with an interest in the subject and has been revised to reflect the changing and global nature of risk management.  As well as being internationally relevant, all Certificate study materials are provided online enabling flexible, part time distance learning for professionals working in different sectors and countries.”

The International Certificate is the IRM’s introductory qualification, there are no entry requirements and, for successful students, completion offers an entry route to IRM membership.

The Certificate’s core text has been written by Paul Hopkin (IRM Director), a renowned risk management professional with over 30 years’ experience in a range of public and private organisations, including the Health and Safety Executive, the BBC, the Rank Group Plc and AIRMIC.  In addition the IRM worked with academics and practising risk professionals around the world to develop the new syllabus.
