PRLog (Press Release) –
Mar 31, 2008 – Mrs Courtley-Green, Advanced Skills Teacher and Head of Geography at Magdalen College School, Brackley has been working closely with Global Mapping’s Managing Director Alan Smith on product development. Invited to their Manor Road office Mrs Courtney-Green assisted in creating Global maps to show specific criteria. ‘As a Geography teacher I was able to offer a different perspective on what aspects of geography would be in demand on world maps at a scale of 1: 40, 000, 000, creating a display map of 1000mm x 700mm.’
The final product was a Dynamic World map featuring plate tectonics, melting ice caps, earthquakes and tsunamis, volcanoes, hotspots & impact craters along with regions at risk from the consequences of global warming. ‘I had a very interesting time there looking at their mapping techniques, GIS systems and satellite images. These maps and Atlases are sold world wide and it is amazing that the company is only a short distance from the school’.
Alan Smith presented Mrs Courtney-Green with of a very large political World map that now takes pride of place in the Dashwood corridor, outside the Geography rooms. This was ‘greatly appreciated’
as it has become a favourite spot for both students and parents to browse over, especially during parent’s evenings.
