The recent release of a new 35mm print of “Last Year at Marienbad” by Rialto Pictures offers an unprecedented opportunity to reintroduce this cinematic classic to American DVD buyers. Long out of print, “Last Year at Marienbad” has become one of the rarest titles in the marketplace. An unopened copy of Fox Lorber’s popular 1999 version recently sold on ebay for $136, and it is routinely offered on the Internet at prices as high as $300. Rialto Pictures can remedy this situation by offering their newly restored print as a widely available DVD reissue.
