Mercy Corps is excited to announce that the Global Citizen Corps Leadership program is now taking applications for the 2008/09 school year. Do you know a high school or high school student ready to be a leader and join in the movement in fighting global poverty? The year-long Global program works with 200 high school students to spread the word about the root causes of global poverty. These students mobilize their peers and communities to take action and build a better world.
Over one year, leaders will work with Mercy Corps to get the training, knowledge, resources and tools to raise awareness and organize effective actions to empower people who live in poverty. Leaders will mobilize their schools and communities around a series of Global Action Days, which connect to international poverty-fighting campaigns. Activities around Global Action Days raise awareness and promote meaningful actions because awareness plus action equals impact.
