Steve Harvey, CNN's Don Lemon and Commissioner Lee May Supports Atlanta-based Non-Profit as Mentors

PR Log (Press Release)Mar 27, 2008 – Steve Harvey, Don Lemon, and Commissioner Lee May have stepped up as mentors for Teach One Academy's "1 Voice - 1 Vote" YouTube Competition. Jennifer Toussaint, Founder and Executive Director of Teach One Academy, launched the national YouTube video competition on March 3, 2008 to encourage young people to register and vote in the 2008 general Presidential election. Five winners will be announced on April 15, 2008 during The Steve Harvey Morning Show.


Participants will be asked to submit videos that detail:

How their candidates will transform the country.
How their stand on various issues will transform their environment.
What issues are most pressing to them.
How they would address their candidate if given the opportunity.
The 1st competition began on March 3, 2008, and will end on April 3, 2008 (Subsequent competitions will take place in July and October).  Voting on the first 500 entries will take place between April 4 and April 11, 2008.  The five winners will be announced on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 during the Steve Harvey Morning Show. Entries will be judged on creativity, content, entertainment value and knowledge.  

Toussaint shares, "Steve Harvey, Don Lemon and Commissioner Lee May have stepped up to become a 'Mentor for a Day' for the winners of this competition.  These mentors are respected, successful visionaries in our communities that believe in giving back. They are providing young people with invaluable tools and constructive examples. We are proud to have them onboard to support this important initiative."

The goal of this campaign is to give young people the opportunity to be a part of the political process by making their voices heard, while, at the same time, enlightening their peers, and encouraging them to become involved. Jennifer explains, "If any young person needs assistance in participating in the competition, contact us. We are currently working with the communications department of local colleges and universities in the area."

10 Finalist will be announced on Tuesday, April 8, 2008
