On Friday April 11 Michael Aquino will be hosting the first installment of Indie Music Circus, a monthly music showcase for independent musicians at Broad Street Playhouse in Pianos Bar and Grill, 36 Broad St., Bloomfield, NJ. Alan Orth, Birdsong Project and Johnny Reyes Trio will be featured this month.
Alan Orth is a solo songwriter from Fort Lee, with influences ranging from Bob Dylan to Beck to LCD Soundsystem. Upon listening to Alan’s songs one can find something to satisfy any musical palette. Birdsong Project features the original music of singer/songwriter, Laura Birdsong, with the expert support of guitarist, Bru Rossman, on lead, guitarist, Mike Ferrara, on bass and sweet singer, Ilsa Rodriguez on backing vocals. Laura's songs combine elements of folk, rock, country and blues for a cosmic American experience. Laura has been playing finger style guitar since her early teens and has been writing songs for three decades. Johnny Reyes Trio is best described as Spanglish Rock. Johnny Reyes has been writing songs and performing for many years since his arrival here in the U.S. He has influences ranging from all over the Latin music spectrum and also drawing from all eras of American rock music. Add in bilingual singing and the results are distinct and unique. Backing Johnny in his rhythm section is David S. Hilton, on bass, who has played in a multitude of bands (SIRS, Green To Think, Bored Of Ed). Pounding away in the back row, on drums, is Jason Clark (SIRS, Brandon’s Art).
