DALLAS – Shermco Industries Inc., a leading provider of rotating apparatus and electrical power system testing, commissioning, repair, maintenance and training, announced today that the fifteenth annual IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Workshop was chaired by Jim White, Shermco training director.
“This year’s Electrical Safety Workshop was a big success with the highest attendance ever and a great selection of speakers and panels,” said White.
Held at the Hyatt Regency Dallas, the Electrical Safety Workshop was a four-day event, held March 18 -21, which allowed participants to share experiences with engineers, electricians, scientists, safety professionals, risk managers, physicians, training professionals, and others all interested in accelerating progress in preventing electrical accidents and injuries. The IEEE Industry Applications Society Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee created the workshop in 1991 to provide a forum for people to meet and exchange ideas for preventing electrical accidents and injuries in the workplace.
In addition to chairing the event, White gave the opening remarks for the conference and participated in a roundtable, Tutorial: NFPA 70E-2009 – What has Changed?
Ron Widup, Shermco executive vice president, also participated as part of the Thursday lineup, presenting Electrical Equipment Performance and the Impact to Personnel: An Arc Flash Exposure Dilemma with Kerry Heid of Magna Electric Corp.
