SecureUSA Inc. develops energy efficient pollution free anti terrorist vehicle barriers

SecureUSA develops green technologies to combat the threat of terrorism with new crash rated electric vehicle barriers and automatic bollards.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Mar 26, 2008 – SecureUSA Inc. is North America’s leading provider of perimeter defense solutions, securing the nation’s most prestigious government, corporate and military establishments from the threat of vehicular intrusion and vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs).  Projects include: the entire financial district of New York, military bases, state police departments including the NYPD, foreign embassies, FBI buildings, presidential libraries, federal government agencies such as Department of Homeland Security, General Service Administration, Department of the Treasury, state agencies, major corporate headquarters, banking facilities, airports, museums, nuclear power plants, petroleum refineries, ports and courthouses.

In the rush since 9/11 to secure the Nation’s at risk facilities, SecureUSA found itself having to install heavy duty hydraulic vehicle barrier equipment such as wedge barriers, retractable bollards, and crash beams, that were prone to environmental pollution. The use of hydraulic fluids produced messy oil reservoirs, hazardous leaks and spills, causing clean up and safety issues, not to mention noise pollution created by the large hydraulic pumps needed.

SecureUSA found that hydraulic fluid leaks were leading to soil contamination, and there was a risk of water contamination at many sites.

SecureUSA decided to build upon its experience and barrier expertise and design a new era in barrier technology, producing the green electrically operated FutureWEDGE vehicle barrier.  This new barrier technology has four environmental benefits, in addition to the many cost, reliability and maintenance benefits.

Electrical Efficiency
When one thinks of a green product, efficiency of operation is one of the first thoughts that come to mind; in this arena the FutureWEDGE does not disappoint. The barrier makes use of a three phase motor which generally provides greater efficiency of power utilization than single phase solutions. The three phase power is synthesized by an industrial-grade, intelligent oscillator with a conversion efficiency well above 90%.

Linear Actuation and Spring Assist
The linear mode of actuation maintains this pursuit of overall efficiency by moving the barrier in the simplest and most direct manner. Added spring assist further reduces the electrical power required to operate the barrier.

Elimination of Hazardous Hydraulic Fluids
The SecureUSA FutureWEDGE Series of vehicle barriers are electrically operated, eliminating messy hydraulic oils and hazardous wastes. There is no need for hydraulic pumps, hazardous hydraulic fluid reservoirs or hydraulic hoses, which are prone to leakages.

Less Disruption to Surrounding Environment for Install
The FutureWEDGE Series has been designed in both surface mount and shallow mount configurations. Unlike other barriers on the market these barriers can be cost effectively bolted straight down to a suitable road surface, or for greater crash rating, shallow mounted in as little as only 9 inches of foundation. This shallow mount design reduces disruption to the surrounding environment and underground utilities. It also speeds install time.

About the FutureWEDGE

In 2006 the original FutureWEDGE was released, and this February SecureUSA released the new generation FutureWEDGE Series 2. The original FutureWEDGE is a very popular unit and has been implemented to protect key banking facilities, corporate entrances, parking garages and casinos, both in the USA, and abroad, including Australia. DOD Crash Tested to K4 level the original FutureWEDGE is able to stop and immobilize a 15,000lb vehicle traveling at 30mph.

The FutureWEDGE 2, just released in 2008, has a higher crash capability and increased duty cycle, engineered to meet the DOS K8 level crash rating, capable of stopping a 15,000lb vehicle traveling at 40mph.

The FutureWEDGE 2 is a step up from other vehicle barriers in the market, in both capability and reliability. The Series 2 vehicle barrier employs a new spring assisted actuator approach, utilizing a more linear method of barrier movement, enabling continuous duty cycle, smoother operation and greater actuator life, as well as greater power efficiency. The aesthetically pleasing, single buttress barrier is perfect for the protection of a large variety of entrances. It has a plate height of 31 inches and can span up to a 16 foot single entrance. In dual configuration it is capable of blocking very large driveways up to 30 feet wide. SecureUSA is currently testing a dual buttress version, capable of supporting even greater plate widths, or providing up to a K12 crash rating.

The FutureWEDGE Series 2 is offered with an optional sophisticated touch screen control system featuring state of the art software and a wide range of integration options. It is the first of its kind to use both a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to operate.  This provides greater flexibility in barrier control and the ability to design a traffic flow system to meet any unique customer requirements, as well as sophisticated networking capabilities. At an operating speed of only 3-4 seconds and with integrated lights and a traffic arm for improved safety and effective traffic operation, the barrier is perfect for a large variety of applications.

Other green products designed by SecureUSA Inc

SecureUSA in recent years has also developed the widely popular EPA friendly SecureUSA Electric Bollard. The SecureUSA rising Electric Bollard incorporates electric actuation, instead of the industry standard hydraulic operation which is heavily associated environmental issues. These bollards have already been widely installed across the US.
