FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Mar 26, 2008 – South Asian college students in the U.S. are sick and tired of hearing about violence in South Asia. Finally, a group of ambitious South Asian Greeks from Rutgers have decided to make their thoughts heard about the importance of pushing for peace among neighboring and non-neighboring South Asian countries. Greek organizations Delta Sigma Iota Fraternity, Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity, Delta Phi Omega Sorority, and Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, have banded together in an effort to promote unity and acceptance on campus in order to show those here and abroad that unity is precious and possible.

These organizations are hosting the largest South Asian Formal ever held in the nation on April 3, 2008, at Royal Albert's Palace in Fords, NJ. The event, brainstormed by Delta Sigma Iota Fraternity and brought forth to the other largest South Asian Greek Organizations in the nation, is being held to show that South Asians can band together to further a unifying cause. All proceeds from the formal on April 3rd, which is appropriately being called Unity- The First Annual South Asian Formal, will go towards helping those affected by Cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh.

The event will consist of a three-course dinner, performances by various South Asian groups, and a call for unity by the four South Asian Greek Organizations present at the event. Each group will present their own call for why unity is absolutely necessary and the treasures of unity that have arised in their own organizations. Above all, the goal for this event is to promote integration among South Asian students in the U.S. as well as show the outside world of the possibility and benefits of working together towards a common goal.
