Mar 24, 2008 – Purosil announces a new series of fluorocarbon lined silicone hoses for the new generation of EPA compliant engines.
Purosil’s fluorocarbon lined hoses, using premium DuPont Viton elastomer, are designed to resist diesel fuel combustion byproducts as well as alcohols and fuel additives. The development of Purosil’s fluorocarbon program began in 2005 with the goal to reduce truck operating lifetime costs by preventing failures and increasing maintenance intervals.
The superior barrier properties of Viton fluoroelastomer make Purosil’s FC class of hoses “best in class” for containing crankcase emissions. Viton has five times better barrier properties than fluorosilicone and ten times better barrier properties than chloroprene when used in hydrocarbon containing environments. Purosil’s design also offers an excellent chemical bond between the fluorocarbon liner and the silicone rubber composite structure. Fluorocarbon hoses have a continuous operating temperature of 235° C or 455° F and low temperature capabilities down to -43°C or -45° F.
