April 9, 2008 - PRLog -- Everyone believes, in some way or another, that things and people are brought together for a reason.  Now, whether your beliefs are spiritual or cosmic, there seems to be no disputiong that some force was at work on this day.
    March 11th started out simple.  Your typical kind of day, but the end result had much more an impact then originally expected.  A litter of German Sheppards were being advertised "For Sale" on the side of the road.  The plan was to stop in just to see the new pups jumping and playing.  As the few pups that remained, three left from a litter of nine, headed back to their pen, one seemed to stand out.  She was a feisty high spirited pup, not backing down from the other's taunts, often overcoming them.  Win or lose though, it was never enough for her.  She seemed to always rebound the aggressor, continually nudging and instigating until the others would engage in more play.  She was that last female, but she was "unwanted", or so was the term used to describe her.  She had been overlooked and refused by all the previous families that came out that week to get a female German Sheppard, but why?  Didn't she fit that description?  Playful, attentive, perfect markings?  this made no sense, but upon further inspection revealed that this pup was "different".  At birth she had been born with a defect.  She was born missing her front right leg from the shoulder down.  But could that be it?  Is THAT the reason these other families just walked away?  It sure was, and with more poking it was found that her fate was questionable at best.  What would be done with her, if she could not find a home?  Would someone take her and treat her poorly due to her "handicap"?  There was only one way to be sure that she would be properly treated.  Misty found a home with REFUZE.
    Refuze is a company that promotes individuals that investigate true human potential by not being restricted by the limitations set thru social acceptance.  Their symbol, the Equion, represents " ? Question, ! Demand, . Period "

            Why would this pup be denied happiness just due to her being different?
            How could we not step up and right this wrong?

            That's it, there are no options.
    Never expecting the impact this little pup would have on them and the local community, it was exciting to see her already  become the talk  of the town.  Her adorable demeanor as well as people's curiosity brought a continuous stream of onlookers presenting her as a new town hero or celebrity.  Never shying down, Misty seems to be responding as if this is the life she was meant for.  She seems to really enjoy the spotlight.
    "We'd never considered adding an animal to our ALLIANCE" says REFUZE founder Tony Kates "But how could we ignore her?  She is pure heart.  She is exactly what we represent.  Welcome to the ALLIANCE girl".  A folder containing images of her followed by some bulletins on Myspace has continued the attention with positive reactions from Refuze's online "friends".  The re-vamp on their current website due mid April will now include a link just for Misty, boasting pics and videos as well as continual updates on her progress.
    Misty seems to be content with her new position as more plans for her are being developed.  Current discussions with a local trainer have spawned the possibilities of helping to find her true potential.  The trainer has offered her time to provide obedience training as well as more extensive types such as rescue and handicap assistance.  We are excited to see how far this little dog's determination will take her.  As her training progresses, Refuze is developing ways to showcase her as a means of inspiration to others.  Initial considerations are local schools and hospitals, but the possibilities with her seem endless.  Don't be suprised if you see Misty on the big screen some day.
