The EmbedRF product is a turn-key wireless solution that can be used by engineers who are currently building a new product that requires short-range, low power wireless functionality.
EmbedRF co-founder, Peter Jacobs says “within just a few days, an engineer can rapidly enable wireless functionality within their new product by integrating the EmbedRF technology directly into their product design. Developing a custom wireless solution typically takes months or even up to a year for an engineering design team to accomplish.”
The EmbedRF product has the capability to transmit small amounts of data periodically or on-demand over a secure data network. Each transceiver is capable of recording and wirelessly transmitting up to four channels of analog sensor data such as temperature, humidity, or voltage measurements.
Several companies are currently evaluating the technology for use within their products. One of these companies, Beacon (a division of Safe Retrieve), is using the EmbedRF technology within their mobile electronic systems. EmbedRF technology is used to notify the mobile system that it is in short range of a base unit, allowing the mobile system to save power. Scott Swanson CEO, Beacon says the EmbedRF wireless solution was clearly the fastest way to develop a new product with a reliable low-power wireless functionality. He also liked the fact that the EmbedRF technology system provides distance information between the transmitter and receiver – a critical element for their system.
Other companies that are evaluating the technology include a company developing a remote controlled window, a company building a roof-top cooling system that is controlled by an in-home control panel, an aerospace application at Harvey Mudd College, and several remote-controlled data monitoring applications.
EmbedRF LLC is co-owned by Jacobs Technologies LLC, a Portland Oregon company and Watson Engineering Solutions, Inc., a company based out of Madison Wisconsin.
