Mar 21, 2008 – Gene Cross earned a Bachelor of Science degree in geophysics from the Eastern New Mexico University. He is currently an optics engineer at Lockheed Martin, a leading, multinational aerospace manufacturer and advanced technology company. In this capacity, Gene is primarily engaged in the design and development of space based optical payloads and product development, from feasibility to system and component design and the delivery of functioning and documented hardware. Gene has been with Lockheed Martin for the past eight years but has thirty years of proven success in achieving form and function in more than a dozen significant new products, from sub-millimeter diameter medical devices to airborne laser radars and meter class telescopes. He is a member of several related societies, including the Optical Society of America, the International Society for Optical Engineering, the Royal Astronomical Society, the New York Academy of Sciences and the Optical Society of San Diego. Gene’s honors include The Team Excellence Award for outstanding accomplishment in the development of new technology for missile defense in 2003 and 2006, the Group Achievement Award, for outstanding accomplishment in the development of a new class of picometer laser metrology beam launcher, the Joint Services Commendation Medal and an Air Force Commendation Medal, USAF, 1973.
Gene presently resides in Fremont, California, where he is active within the community and enjoys spending time with family and traveling. He is being included in the 2008/2009 Princeton Premier Registry in recognition of his contributions to aerospace and significant impact within the field of optical science. # # # About Princeton Premier:
