Francis Scott Key: Legacy of a Life in Service won in the category History/Biography. At six- minutes, it’s a short yet patriotic study on the pious life of the Star-Spangled Banner author and features the voice talents of actor Bruce Jacobson and Key interpreter Alan Gephardt.
Winning in the Documentary category was Belvoir, an equally short yet provoking journey through 350-years of the Anne Arundel County estate’s fascinating history and occupants (including some of Maryland’s most notable aristocracy, namely the Rosses, the Hammonds and the Dorseys). Historian Jan Orazem appears as host and narrator inter-cut with beauty shots of the striking grounds and restored architecture.
The documentaries, shot in high definition, were produced and directed by Steven Fischer. The executive producer was Jeff Antkowiak, C.C.O. of the film’s production company, ADG Creative in Columbia, Md. Adam Bedard created the visual effects, titles, and sound mixing. The digital artist was Flynn Wolf.
The documentaries were created for Rockbridge Academy, a classic and Christian school in Crownsville, Maryland. The school acquired the historic Belvoir property in 2006 and commissioned ADG Creative to spotlight the estate and its most famous resident as a showcase for their website, http://www.buildingontheblessing.org , also developed by ADG.
The Telly Awards were established in 1978 and have become one of the most sought after awards by television production and broadcast leaders internationally. Last year, the Telly Awards received over 14,000 entries from five continents. The Telly statuette is design by the same firm that makes the Oscar® and the Emmy® Awards.
