TRIAD owner/publisher, Vern Firestone states, “I want to encourage young people to utilize their natural creative abilities and to stretch their imaginations through this writing and artistic challenge.”
The contest will be comprised of two categories: 'Tween Tales for middle school students and Senior Scribes for high school students.
A panel of professional authors and editors will evaluate, select and edit the winning entries in each category to be published with ALL profits benefiting the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) Organization (www.rif.org)
The submission guidelines include short stories of fiction, non-fiction and poetry up to 2,000 words. Entrants may submit up to 5 stories and 10 poems in all three categories. Aspiring artists may also submit their work. All artwork will be chosen from submissions and utilized throughout the publication. All entries must be received by the deadline of June 15, 2008. The winning stories and artwork will be published and ready for sale by fall 2008.
