Book Release Announcement - Author Lisa A. Stafford

First published books in print by author Lisa A. Stafford released, by Blurb.com

PRLog - March 19, 2008 - ATLANTA -- Atlanta-based children’s book author, novelist and poet Lisa A.. Stafford has released two books. The Trickster and the Howling Wind is a children’s picture book (illustrations by Gunther Gordon). The Trickster and the Howling Wind is based on the mythical trickster who in oral traditions worldwide is an anecdote of deceit and magic perpetrated by an animal-human with special or magical powers.. A variation on the trickster myth, this story is set in the African village of Ashi, where the gods and villagers live side by side peacefully until someone dares to play a trick on the trickster. This is a rich tale that is designed to draw children into a mythical world and teach a valuable lesson on the importance of integrity and truthfulness.

At Home on the Edge, the second release by Stafford, is a collection of poems. In the tradition of Sanchez and Giovanni, Stafford explores feminist, political and cultural issues in her poetry. Her moving poetry, both thought provoking and provocative, celebrates the expanse of black culture and examines the painful silences of inequality and racism. Her poetry has a breathless energy, which goes from raw emotion to the still inner thoughts of an individual living life precariously - on the edge.

Author - A native of South Florida, Lisa Stafford was born in Miami. She is an actress and writer, currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia.
