What do you think of when you hear "book tour?"
It's usually some author who touts a new book by visiting bookstores and libraries to raise awareness of the publication. But, Dave Diotalevi, author of the yet-to-be released mystery, MIRACLE MYX, has taken the concept of book tour to a whole new level.
"I wanted to lead up to my book's release with something fun, exciting, and entertaining for readers," explains Diotalevi. "I decided to post a photo of my book every day in a blog. I can't believe I've done this for 100 days in a row. It's certainly been challenging--
These images show MIRACLE MYX in situations ranging from the mundane to the bizarre, and traveling from Massachusetts, where the mystery is set, all the way to Arizona.
Accompanying the photos is a bit of schizophrenic dialogue in which Diotalevi banters with the book itself in the guise of its main character, Myx Amens.
"I put the book in some strange situations and positions," says Diotalevi, "and I verbalize what the book might say if it had a voice. There's always a laugh there."
Diotalevi posts his book's real-life travels on his Where's Myx? blog: www.wheresmyx.blogspot.com. MIRACLE MYX is available for preorder online and will be in bookstores in May.
