Stornoway Diamond Corporation and Hunter Exploration Group have reported diamond recovery results for the AV1 and AV2 projects at Aviat in Nanuvat, Canada.
At AV1, the companies recovered 43.41 carats of diamonds from 48.9 dry tons of kimberlite, indicating a diamond content of 89 carats per one hundred tons.
Previous results from AV1 (announced in October 2004) indicated 8.54 carats of diamonds recovered from 10.28 dry tons of processed kimberlite. A combination of the historical results plus current data indicates a recovery rate of 51.95 carats per 59.15 dry tons.
Regarding AV2, a total of 6.24 dry tons was processed in 2007 yielding 4.99 carats, indicating a diamond content of 80 carats of diamonds per ton.
Stornoway’s CEO Eira Thomas noted that AV1 has once again yielded consistently high grades. She added that the fact that the average stone size continues to increase in larger kimberlite samples is also encouraging.
