Cuckoo Clocks were first made in the early 18th century in the Black Forest, reputedly by the German clockmaker, Franz Anton Ketterer. The popularity of Cuckoo Clocks grew rapidly as pedlars travelled with them all over Europe. Sadly, antique clocks are rare, as their actions, as well as their cases, were also made of wood.
Why the Cuckoo? The sound is simple to re-create, the cuckoo call demands attention (important in any sounding timepiece) and the bird is equally known throughout Europe, Asia and Africa for its questionable parenting habits.
Home Living, NY was founded in 2002 and now counts among its customers not only several Colleges and Universities, but the White House and the US Army! Home Living have taken Cuckoo Clocks seriously. For a trip to their wonderland of Cuckoo Clocks, start at http://bimzbiz.com/
