This also impacts laser sources for the display industry where heat generation can lead to cooling requirements, which usually means additional cost and decreased lifetime. This breakthrough, not only benefits the high power applications, but also enables low power applications such as, Pico projection. Pico projectors used in, for example, PDA devices like cell phones, are extremely cost sensitive and so low heat is essential to making laser sources an affordable solution.”
