skirt! Magazine to Launch in Hampton Roads on March 29

PRLog (Press Release) – Mar 14, 2008 – Norfolk, VA – Port Folio Publishing, as part of Targeted Publications + Media, will launch skirt! magazine throughout Hampton Roads on March 29th.  skirt! will reflect the variety and diversity of women’s lives and interests.  Mary-Louise Scott, Publisher of Port Folio Weekly and skirt! General Manager describes skirt! as “fun and irreverent, but also smart and aware.  She’s like a perfect best friend - always there to answer your questions, give you great ideas, and of course, dish about fashion!”      

According to Ed Power, General Manager of Targeted Publications + Media, “skirt! magazine is a welcome addition to the Targeted Publications + Media family, especially when you consider that women make 80% of all buying decisions.  We’re pleased to be able to offer our advertisers an opportunity to target this lucrative market.”

Hampton Roads represents the 18th market to join the skirt! franchise.  “We are thrilled to introduce skirt! to the women of Hampton Roads.  Already we can see that the preview copies of the magazine have been received very enthusiastically.” observed skirt! Founder and Publisher Nikki Hardin.

The launch will include a day of activities at MacArthur Center on March 29 from 11:00am – 5:00pm including “Your Favorite Skirt” fashion show, dance lessons and mini-makeovers.  The event will culminate with a “He’s So Original” competition where men will be modeling skirts for prizes.

The launch of skirt! magazine will be closely followed by the skirt! Women’s Show on April 19th at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.  The show’s theme, “Finally…a Show That Fits!” reflects the fact that the skirt! Women’s Show will offer something for every woman – education, entertainment, health, travel, finance, and of course –shopping!”  The skirt! Women’s Show will benefit Help and Emergency Response, Inc. (H.E.R. Shelter) and Dress for Success Norfolk.  Attendees are asked to donate gently worn suits or a cell phone for $2.00 off the $8.00 admission fee.
