Model search hits UP--online voting to start on March 17

PRLog (Press Release)Mar 12, 2008 – Auctionista, the search for the next Auction.ph models, recently concluded its 3rd leg in University of the Philippines, Diliman. The on-ground component of the search was conducted in cooperation with the UP Economics Society (UP ECOSOC). There were dozens of student hopefuls who registered for the search after three days of scouting inside the campus. After a rigid selection process, Auction.ph executives handpicked 16 of the best-looking candidates from the batch.

Fans of the search can see and vote for UP’s best-looking Auctionista bets on www.auction.ph starting on March 17. The voting period ends on April 3. Everyone is invited to visit the event page and cast a vote. Voters stand a chance to win Php5,000.00 e-money for the grand prize and three Php1,000.00 e-money as consolation prizes.

The Auctionista search was launched in November of 2007, kicking off the tour in De La Salle University. It was followed up two months later with another leg conducted in Jose Rizal University. The search has discovered four promising candidates namely Michael Mendoza and Monique Lim of De La Salle University and Zemuel Arellano and Erlene Valdenarro of Jose Rizal University. UP’s Auctionista bets will be revealed on April 4 after the online voting period. The Auctionistas will compete with each other and with other Auctionistas from 5 other universities in a Grand Showdown happening in December 2008.

Auction.ph was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 15, 2005. Its primary purpose is to engage in the business of providing online market service where business and consumers buy and sell goods and services, either through auction or outright purchase.
