E-commerce Site Continues To Expand Its Base

Auction.ph continues to increase its membership base and its item postings

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Mar 12, 2008 – Auction.ph, the foremost online shopping mall in the Philippines, continues to expand its baseline numbers reaching almost 1.2M registered members as of March 2008 and with an average of 6,000 posted items daily.

The e-commerce site plans to further expand these numbers in 2008 through exciting online events and pro-seller promos.  “We intend to enhance the online experience for both buyers and sellers to inspire loyalty,” says Ms. Jenny Kim, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Auction.ph.  “Online, we have exciting promos and events such as the Double Bingo Mania event and our standard site features such as our Coupon Mania and our 1Peso Auction.”

Double Bingo Mania is an online game wherein buyers get a chance to win premium items for a minimum purchase of Php500.00.  They also get a chance to win e-money instantly if they complete a bingo line.  Items featured as prizes include iPhones and other popular gadgets like digital cameras and mobile phones.

Sellers or ‘cybermerchants’ would find it more attractive to sell their items on Auction.ph with pro-seller programs that subsidize item pricing.  The Coupon Mania, for instance, allows buyers to download discount coupons for free which can be used in purchasing items online.

Apart from online events, Auction.ph also conducts events on-ground like Auctionista to increase brand awareness and the Online Selling Seminars to educate aspiring ‘cybermerchants.’  Auctionista—The Search for the Next Auction.ph Models is a model search targeting different universities.  It has an on-ground search followed by an online voting component.  As of March 2008, Auctionista has been conducted in De La Salle University, Jose Rizal University and University of the Philippines, Diliman.  The Online Selling Seminars are conducted in universities as well free of charge.  The seminars include lectures on the fundamentals of online selling and testimonials from successful “cybermerchants.”

“In 2008, the plan is to make people aware that we offer an online market service that has amazing advantages and benefits.  We have to make them aware that it is fun and convenient to use.  And when they start using our website, we have to make sure that they don’t stop.  They will keep coming back because of our unique and exciting online offerings,” explains Ms. Kim.
