Western Diabetic Supplies is proud to be among the first to offer the new Prodigy Voice talking glucose meter for blind or visually impaired individuals with diabetes. This meter was designed with significant input from the National Federation of the Blind, and was recently awarded its A-plus award for blind accessibility. Western Diabetic Supplies offers the meter through their Easy Home Delivery program, and they may be contacted toll-free at (877) 937-8342, or through http://www.WesternDiabetic.com .
The Prodigy Voice meter audibly presents current glucose readings, as well as those stored in the meter's memory. It has a convenient repeat button to allow users to replay the most recent reading as often as desired, and a set-up button that allows the user to audibly set up all functions, step by step.
The Prodigy Voice also uses a very small amount of blood and provides very fast results. The test strip port has a prominent indentation to allow the user to easily locate the strip insertion point.
For those desiring more privacy, the Prodigy Voice has an earphone jack so the user may privately monitor their blood glucose.
The Prodigy Voice is significantly smaller than previous meters with this capability, allowing for much greater mobility for those who test frequently.
According to Western Diabetic Supplies' President, Mike Walsh: "Feedback from our blind customers has been very gratifying, and it is clear this meter is making an improvement to their daily lives. Our first customer called the day he received his new Prodigy Voice to thank us, and said it 'felt like Christmas all over again.' I feel like this meter allows us to truly make a difference."
