This gorgeous book rediscovers the fascinating past of the “Alamo City” through nearly 200 rare photographs culled from the archives of Library of Congress, the Texana/Genealogy Department of the San Antonio Public Library and the Institute of Texan Cultures at the University of Texas- San Antonio, all of which are showcased with exceptional clarity and beauty.
In scenes of events from Hot Sulphur Wells to Fort Sam Houston, landmarks to lawmen, cattle drives to Commerce Street, and much more, San Antonio shines through the decades in glorious black-and-white photography, displayed in a large format.

Faulkner, Jr., “and these photographs remind us that San Antonio’s past is more than the Alamo and very little of its past has really been studied. There is a need to preserve and re-develop much of our structural heritage and local neighborhoods.”
