2008 WORLD CITIZEN AWARD
In Leipzig Germany, Major Florian Pfaff will received the 2008 World
Citizen Award from the Association of World Citizens (AWC). The award is in recognition of the moral decision by Major Pfaff in 2003 to refuse orders to participate in the U.S.-led attack on Iraq. Major Pfaff followed his conscience, believing the war was an act of aggression and violation of international law. In 2005, the Federal Administrative Court of Germany ruled that Major Pfaff was “righteous”
The award will be presented on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 10 a.m. during the Leipzig Book Fair at the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL), Messeallee 1, 04356 Leipzig, Germany.
