Less than 24 hours after the news of Governor Eliot Spitzer's involvement in a prostitution scandal broke, t-shirt design company Scarebaby Design (http://www.scarebaby.com)
The New York Times reports that Governor Spitzer is expected to resign, but Scarebaby artist Sue Hartzel doesn't believe that will slow sales of the t-shirt. Spitzer was known for his relentless pursuit of office-holders suspected of wrong-doing. "New Yorkers especially will find the design amusing, relevant, and a great reminder of the fallibility of all people", says Hartzel. "The Spitzer scandal is unusual in that Eliot Spitzer won the governorship of New York after campaigning on ethical leadership. At the same time, I've heard it said that we're one of the few Western societies where a story like this would actually make the front page. We're poking a little fun at that, too, at the continuing Puritan undertones still alive in America."
Governor Spitzer has not admitted to any specific acts, and no charges have been filed.
Scarebaby Designs t-shirts are fulfilled by Cafepress, the online print on demand company based in California.
