Israeli Diamond Industry Portal : CIBJO President Addresses Consumer Confidence Issues at Macau

PRLog (Press Release) – Mar 11, 2008 – During his visit at the Macau International Jewelry and Watch Fair last week, CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri spoke of the three rules of practice that industry members must adhere to in order to be part of a responsible business sector.

Cavalieri noted: "The first is to be fully transparent in the way we operate our businesses and what we sell. The second is to defend the industry from the various challenges that could threaten our reputation and integrity, and the third is to function as a positive influence, serving as a means for sustainable economic and social development in the communities and countries in which we are active.”

Cavalieri also spoke of the problem of lung disease in China due to poorly ventilated factories, and recommended to install modern ventilation systems. “In jewelry production a variety of dangerous chemicals are used, and strict safety standards must be employed.”
