Airtel, ranking the largest telecom service provider in the private sector, introduces user-oriented schemes from time to time. This time, Airtel has launched a unique, easy to operate programme for its millions of satisfied users. Well, it is an array of M-Commerce solutions, unveiled for the first time in India. This customer-centric venture is finalized in alliance with leading banks like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, Corporation Bank, VISA and mChek.
The services under this new banner include Mobile Money Transfer (MMT) (to be operational from March 15), Postpaid Bill Payment, and Prepaid Recharge, all available at the click of the finger on the mobile phone. The Airtel user can instantly avail this facility by sending a text message ‘Airtel’ to 543219. He/she should have the following:
• A credit/debit card with either of ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI, Corporation Bank or VISA
• Compatible handsets in order to download the application.
Once the download procedure including verification of the card details is done, one can get started. Accredited by PCIDSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards), a global security standard, Airtel ensures a secured, safe and hassle-free payment gateway. Now, if you are an Airtel user, experiencing the new Airtel aura, you need not visit a Point of Sale (POS) terminal, or walk into a retail store ever again or carry cash for paying a postpaid bill. Ensuring convenience at no extra cost, Airtel seeks to achieve total customer delight.
More than 67,000 registered customers are NOW availing a number of time-saving benefits like transferring money, paying bills, recharging phones for self, friends & family, buying movie/air/rail tickets instantly on the mobile. Till date, transactions worth several crores of rupees were done and over 17000 movie tickets were bought using this service. That is an atypical feat achieved, bearing testimony to the fast use of the service introduced just a few days back!
Innovation has been the buzzword at Airtel since its inception, and Gopal Vittal, Director, Marketing & Communications, Airtel, said, “Now millions of our customers can send money any time, from anywhere to anyone.” Rahul Bhagat, a key personnel of HDFC Bank, elated with the association with Airtel, expressed interest, saying that the new Airtel initiative ‘will help usher in a new era of mobile based payments, especially Person to Person Fund Transfers’. The Senior General Manager of ICICI Bank, Sachin Khandelwal, said that ICICI is among the first banks to be associated with Airtel and that the ‘Airtel mChek’ solution will open the ‘horizon of banking services to new frontiers’.
No wonder, Airtel has been the right choice for the GSM Association Chairman’s Award 2008 conferred to its chief Sunil Mittal.
