The route linked India to Central Asia ,Egypt, Arabia, Persia, Africa and the West. Once the seatrade began to flourish, the caravan trade dwindled and Jaisalmer felt the affects. Now it has a rising tourist trade and is truly unlike anywhere else, as it rises like a mirage from the desert floor with camels abound.
