Detroit Blues Society Announces The 2008 Detroit Blues Challenge

PR Log (Press Release) – Mar 08, 2008 – Detroit, Michigan The Detroit Blues Society is proud to announce that it will be hosting five preliminary Detroit Blues Challenge events in 2008 – (1) Solo/Duo competition and (4) Band competitions. In 2008, over 34 Detroit area acts have signed up to compete in this prestigious Challenge. The winners of these preliminary rounds move on to the Finals on November 23, 2008  at the Magic Bag Theater in Ferndale, Michigan. The finals winners in both Solo/Duo and Band categories move on to Represent Detroit at the International Blues Challenge finals in Memphis, Tennessee in January of 2009.

The Detroit Blues Challenge schedule for 2008 is as follows:

What: Band Preliminary 9pm-1am
Where: Alibi’s

Windsor, ON. Canada
Performers include:Christy Howard Band, Sweet Claudette & Friends, Pat Jaynes & The Hurricanes, Big B & The Magic Bullets, Robert Johnson Trio, Stoney Mazar and the Westsiders, Cooley Pope Band, and 1 act TBD.

According to the Detroit Blues Society President Steve Allen:" The Metro Detroit area is truly blessed with ultra-talented Blues musicians by the score. This large group of competitors represent the very best of the very best. The Detroit Blues Society is very proud of them and excited to turn them loose onstage in the clubs in Metro Detroit.
