This essence as heard in “Blind Sometimes” can be attributed to the daily survival and adaptation life demands. Always forward-thinking DegreeZero is instinctual when a calling like this beckons. “Not a second thought comes to mind with a purpose such as Planet Cancer. That’s what we are in this for is to help one another – without cause there is no effect.”
Based in Austin, TX, Planet Cancer is, “an international network of young adults, ready and willing to help each other through what may well be the most difficult experience of their lives.” Part community forum, part event planner the website provides a common ground for cancer fighters and survivors. Based on ideals of resistance and change, this non-profit offers a unique voice for everyday people who have been affected by cancer. This forgotten demographic, which usually takes a backseat to the pediatric and geriatric cancer groups, forges connections through weekend retreats. These outings have been developed in conjunction with the Next Step Fund, a group affiliated with Paul Newman’s Hole In The Wall Gang Camp. Through these outings and community forums Planet Cancer’s unified vision embodies coping through humor, entertainment and a place to discuss, learn and share stories.
