Focus Express Mail Pharmacy Partners with Diabetes Sentry

Diabetes Sentry Products has recently released a newly FDA approved product, the Sleep Sentry, which alerts diabetics of impending medical complications associated with diabetes.

Approximately 20.8 million children and adults in the United States have been diagnosed with diabetes, roughly seven percent of the population. Every year, nearly 225,000 diabetics lose their life from complications associated with the disease. Recent data suggests that this is not likely to change soon.

Diabetes Sentry re-released the Sleep Sentry, a portable device worn around the wrist at night to monitor the temperature and moisture of the skin while sleeping. If a hypoglycemic reaction occurs during sleep, the skin will get cold and moist (cold sweat) setting off the Sleep Sentry alarm and waking the patient. Hypoglycemia, affects most if not all people with Type 1 diabetes and can become a medical emergency if not treated in a timely manner. It can lead to a prolonged unconscious state, permanent brain damage or even death. Some research estimates that between 4 and 13 percent of the deaths of people with type I diabetes results from hypoglycemic events. This new FDA approved model provides monitoring that people with diabetes need at night.
