Phoenix, AZ (February 27, 2008) – Every high school in the Dallas, San Diego and Portland areas has a chance to be the sole winner of $25,000 to put toward the cost of its prom. To win the Win the Ultimate Prom (WUP) contest, a school has to generate the most votes during the month of March. The contest is sponsored by Grand Canyon University (GCU), one of the fastest growing private Christian universities in the country, and managed by VERGO Marketing, an educational marketing agency, both based in Phoenix, Arizona.
“The senior prom is a significant event for students that should be enjoyable and memorable,” says Christel Mosby of Grand Canyon University (www.gcu.edu)
The winner will be the school that rallies the most support from many sources. Students, parents, faculty members and administrators, relatives and friends are all eligible to vote by registering at www.wintheultimateprom.com. Each person can vote once a day between March 1 and March 31 at the website or by text messaging the word “prom” to 70734 once they have registered.
“Win or lose, every student benefits by voting,” says Sara Gullickson of VERGO Marketing. “Prom is most rewarding when you put forth some effort to make it happen. Voting shows school spirit, teamwork, and cooperation. The Win the Ultimate Prom website will identify the top ten winning schools in real time, so when you see your school’s name, you can feel good knowing your classmates are working together.”
WUP offers students a variety of tools to help get their school organized on www.wintheultimateprom.com . The “Idea Bank” provides morning announcement scripts and videos, graphic banners, screensavers, t-shirt iron-ons, templates and more. Every voter will receive a weekly newsletter with contest updates and tips on how to generate votes. WUP even has its own Prom Queen blogging daily about prom in general and answering questions from teens on every prom topic – find it at http://sarathepromqueen.vox.com. The winning school will be announced on or before April 4, 2008.
