Australian Football, AFL and Aussie Rules are all names of this great Australian game simply called footy to many. Footy has many likable elements to the game with high marks, big hitting tackles and bumps and high scoring. It is also a game were people all sizes can play. Were else would a 7 foot player play with a 5 foot nothing and both be valid team mates?
Australian Football is not just limited to Australia anymore, many other countries now have their own competitive competitions and overseas players are starting to make a mark in the higher leagues around Australia.
You have several Irish players and other players from South Africa, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand all contributing to the game. However the problem lays in the grass roots of the game both in Australia and over seas. How do you teach someone to kick the ball, how do you explain the rules and how do you coach your sons local team?
