ServiceU Now Offers Integration with ShelbyFINANCIALS for Improved Accountability and Functionality

“The new Shelby export option will help our customers save time and enable them to more effectively and conveniently track their financial information,” says Tim Whitehorn, CEO and founder of ServiceU Corporation. “Our goal is to provide tools that assist our customers in helping their ministry function as efficiently as possible.”

For ShelbyFINANCIALS to track funds properly, the system needs both a Shelby ID and a purpose code. In the past, ServiceU customers could enter a purpose code for each donation form, but not for each account. Many churches have created multiple accounts in the ServiceU system for tithing, building fund, missions, etc. Each of these giving opportunities have a unique purpose code in Shelby, but the ServiceU system only allowed for a single purpose code for the entire form in the system.

“By allowing users to define a purpose code for each giving opportunity on one form, we have effectively eliminated a time consuming step in the process of getting transaction data out of ServiceU and into the ShelbyFINANCIALS database,” comments Brian Robinson, customer service manager for ServiceU.

Longtime ServiceU customer, Kevin McCord of Oasis Church (www.visitoasis.org) has worked closely with ServiceU to ensure efficient reconciliation of data between programs:

“Before this update, ServiceU already had a process that made transferring the gifts simple enough, but some manual changes were needed prior to posting the gifts in the donor management system,” says McCord. “This round of changes eliminates the need for manual changes prior to posting gifts when the donor selects to break their gift down between multiple designations. Additionally, it also introduces the ability to filter on one specific merchant account. This keeps different types of money from being batched together when it goes to the church bank account.”
