FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Feb 25, 2008 – Emmy nominated filmmaker Steven Fischer has become the inaugural subject for a new on-line interview series from CINE called The CINE Profile Series. Fischer’s credits include the recent animated documentary, Freedom Dance, re-telling an artist’s life-altering escape from Communist Hungary in 1956.

The series can be seen at http://www.cine.org/newsletter/newsletter.php

Earlier this month, Freedom Dance won CINE’s coveted Special Jury prize. The documentary is narrated by Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and screens in March at the White Sands International Film Festival in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Founded in 1957 by a consortium representing business, education, and government to depict American life and thought realistically for a global audience, CINE recognizes and fosters the highest quality of non-theatrical film and video production through its semi-annual competitions. Recipients of the sought after CINE Golden Eagle Award include Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, John Lasseter, Barbara Kopple, Charles Guggenheim, Ken Burns, Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Robert Zemeckis, Mike Nichols, Robert Altman, Spike Lee, Mel Brooks and many other distinguished producers.

Fischer has won the CINE Golden Eagle Award twice. The first was for Draw the Line, a documentary about the animation profession, subsidized by Northern Virginia Community College, one of the largest community college systems in the United States.

Wendy Revel, CINE’s Executive Director, says, "CINE is delighted to introduce our new Profile Series, in which we'll interview filmmakers who win CINE Golden Eagle Awards and jury chairs who judge the competitions. We think it's a great way to spotlight the filmakers' talent and provide insight into the process that is the foundation of our competitions. The interviews will be posted on CINE's website and is another way to connect the filmmaking community."

Since 1996, Fischer's work has earned numerous accolades and honors from the Emmy Awards, Telly Awards, Cine Golden Eagle Awards, WorldFest International Film Festival, the Directors Guild of America, and the New York Festivals.

His versatility includes the Steve & Bluey cartoon series, an experimental documentary on celebrated photographer Carl Clark, and a poetic foreign language film called Silence of Falling Leaves honoring Polish POWs murdered in the Katyn Forest Massacre and which was nominated for an Emmy® Award in 2000.

Fischer is available for media and entertainment news interviews and can be contacted through http://www.freedomdancethemovie.com
