First Annual Lloyd Award Winners Announced

Boombox Serenade honors the year's best film-music moments with a new award; media frenzy does not ensue

Feb. 24, 2008 - PRLog -- SAN FRANCISO, CA — Boombox Serenade today announced the winners of the first Annual Lloyd Awards, honoring both the directors and music supervisors, who crafted the best film-music moments of the year.

"Let's be honest," said Boombox Serenade author Shannon Coulter. "Nobody out there actually liked that Melissa Etheridge song that won the Oscar few years ago. The Academy only acknowledges music that was written specifically for the film in which it appears, while Boombox Serenade recognizes that there's a world of film-music beyond that and that it's way, way better."

Among this year's ten Lloyd winners are Director David Fincher for Zodiac, Directors Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis for Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Colon Movie Film for Theaters, and Director Quentin Tarantino for Grindhouse: Death Proof. Honored musicians include Donovan, Mastodon, and The Coasters, among seven others.

"If there had been a real awards ceremony, we're pretty sure it would be the first time that Donovan and Mastodon would have been in the same room together," says Coulter.

Films included in the"Soundtracks that Made Lloyd Sad and/or Angry" category were August Rush,  Across the Universe, and Wild Hogs.
