PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 21, 2008 -
“Massage is as essential to the well-being of pets as it is to their human owners.”  That’s the philosophy driving Alexia Macri’s holistic approach to pet therapy.  Best of all, Alexia also makes house calls.  You can meet her at the IKC Dog Show, Booth #88, this Friday, February 22nd through Sunday, February 24th.

Chicagoan Alexia Macri has always felt that she had a special connection with animals, being driven by a purpose to help each animal that comes to her for assistance in the pet’s healing process.  Early in her career Alexia quickly noticed the health improvements of her patients.  Generally more relaxed and happier pets were the result of her efforts in addition to offering increased flexibility and joint movement, accelerated recovery time after injury or surgery, decreased pain in arthritic dogs and resolving skin and coat issues.

Alexia says benefits of animal massage include increased circulation, immune system boost, flushing the body of toxins, injury prevention, increased athletic performance, positive social development and behavior, and empowering pet owners to help and work with their pets.

An Insured Member of IAAMB (International Association of Animal Massage and Bodywork), Alexia is trained in hydrotherapy, ultrasound therapy, and massage and is Certified in Canine Rehabilitation and Pet Massage, Healing Touch, and Aromatherapy.

You can always reach Alexia at her new office location, where you can bring your pet to get a massage, at 635 N. Western Avenue, phone 773-775-6312.  Alexia shares the facility with dog trainer Toriano Sanzone, owner of Sanzone School of Dog Training.  They came up with a unique “Bootcamp Holistic” three-week training program, which through positive reinforcement helps dogs overcome behavioral issues.  The facility also offers grooming, veterinary services, and daycare/boarding.  Alexia also does house calls for Chicago pets.

Alexia also produces and distributes her own line of Natural Pet Care Products under the name of “Healing Scents Alexia Blends”.  These products include a holistic First Aid Salve, Shampoos, Massage Oils, and a popular Stress-Ease Mist, which assists dogs in overcoming their anxieties, eases pain, and aids in overall relaxation.

Alexia is a native of Greece and currently lives in the Gold Coast area of Chicago with her husband Frank and their two-year-old Corgi/Border Collie mix, Maga, which means “dude” in Greek.
