Feb 21, 2008 – Another unique collaboration from Galerie MX: In honor of the 10th anniversary of V-Day, Galerie MX is very proud to present the readings of Eve Ensler�s �The Vagina Monologues� under the direction of theatre legend Jo�l Legendre. With special guest stars Ginette Reno, Sophie Gr�goire, Tara Spencer-Nairn, Eva Avila,� Kim D�Eon, Nathalie Lauzon, Marie-Jos�e Turcotte, Genevi�ve Saint-Germain known throughout Canada and Quebec, the event promises to be a big hit not to me missed!

This special event, hosted by Galerie MX, is to showcase the works of Montreal artist Niko, who has dedicated her latest exposition as her tribute, to �The Vagina Monologues� with 45 pieces inspired by Eve Ensler�s off Broadway hit show. 15% of all sales will be to assist V-Day for regional and international charity distribution. Niko will also offer one of her paintings for special auction.

V-Day celebrates 10 years of Global movement to stop violence against woman and girls. V-Day is an organization that helps bring the awareness of violence against women and girls to the mainstream and help distribute funds locally and around the globe. One of V-Day�s desires is to boost the work of emergency organizations efforts to raise the much-needed funds to remain open and continue their services to the victims of violence. This year V-Day will be celebrating their tenth year and has been appropriately named V to the 10th.

This year in celebration of V to the tenth, V-Days focus is The Katrina Warriors, dispersing funds to women of the Gulf South and New Orleans.

Other proceeds will also be to assist V-Day with distribution to Montreal�s local charities such as Shield of Athena Family Services, Chez Stella and YWCA.

GALERIE MX: The Galerie MX is a major Montreal venue for displaying visual art. Its mission is the promotion of local and international creative talent. Founded only last year, Galerie MX is already among Montreal�s top contemporary art galleries. Located in the magnificent international quarter, it has been looking for artists that have gone beyond the technique, gestual and composition of the norm. According to Fran�ois Lauzon, Galerie MX co-onwer: �Even though all of these elements are essential to the quality of the work, they remain secondary to the artist if they are without soul and a unique style�. Recently, Galerie MX was selected to present the photographs of Andy Summers (of the musical group The Police) and also hosted the�Second edition of the international exhibition AU FIL DE L�ART and�DOMINIC BESNER in November 2007.

Niko was born in Montreal and grew up in a family of artists. She worked in the fashion industry in California and New York, but was destined to become an artist of her own. Her early nomadic lifestyle gave her the opportunity to travel everywhere, particularly in Europe, and has given her art an international influence.
Her canvases are vibrant with rough colors, brightness and impulsiveness. Moreover, a new tendency emerges from her work: "neonism.�

V-DAY was founded ten years ago by Eve Ensler, with a 2500 seat sold-out benefit performance of �The Vagina Monologues � on February 14, 1998 in New York City. $250,0000 was raised for local NYC anti-violence groups. The evening featured over twenty actors including the great talents of Glenn Close, Susan Sarandon, Whoopi Goldberg and Lily Tomlin. Through their dedication and determination, V-DAY has continued to grow and expand their message to become a global force of goodwill
