PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 19, 2008 -
Frankfort, Kentucky  – A new internet resource titled, ‘A Troubled Teen and his Parents’ seeks to support the children who do not live with their biological parents and the relatives who care for them. The show is a chronicle of interactions between a 16 year-old and his parents as they institute a new discipline system. Resources for the system are free and available via the internet. This internet radio show can be listened to via the computer in a family’s home.

“With so many households with teenagers having computers and internet access, what we offer can easily be used and implemented in the privacy of anyone’s home.” said Troy, “We expect contacts with 30,000 people during the first year.”

During each show, Troy and Will talk about the issues presented daily regarding discipline, support and household functioning. Troy brings to the show both the parent’s perspective as well as his perspective as a former service provider. Will brings to the show the teen’s perspective as well as his perspective as being a child not living with their biological parents. Each perspective is presented clearly and offers listeners insight into the inner workings of both parent and child.

About Troy and Will:

The two hosts of the show are Troy, who received his Master’s in Family Studies from the University of Kentucky. Troy’s perspective on parenting and how to deal with his ‘troubled teen’ is based on both academic research and personal experience. Will is a 16-year-old who has experienced several out-of-home placements and currently lives with his uncle and aunt.  The perspective they bring offers ‘real world’ support and insight for those who are both the children’s in relative placement and those who have opened their home to a child.
