LONG BEACH, Calif. – Danny Sonenshine of Far West Restaurant Group, LLC. just opened his seventh Wingstop in Los Angeles county and has three more planned for the area to open before June. Yet, a mere four years ago Sonenshine was on the corporate track reporting to the same office day in and day out as an associate at a large law firm.
“When I first learned of the concept, it was still relatively unknown in California. Having tried the product, I knew it would be a big success here,” said Sonenshine. “I had been looking for an independent endeavor and thought what better way than to develop Wingstops in LA.”
He says the biggest surprise is that he gets the most satisfaction in the business from being an employer.
“I enjoy providing a livelihood for so many people and a career path for those who want to grow with us. I also like to hire within the communities in which we’re located” said Sonenshine.
Sonenshine credits much of his success to having found good key managers. Jorge Ortiz has been his vice president of operations since 2005 and Amador Avila is a regional operator. The two of them have extensive restaurant operational experience and are responsible for the seven locations now open and will oversee 10 overall, once the next three are open.
His most recent Wingstop just opened at 2018 Carson Street in the Long Beach Towne Square (corner of Carson and Cherry). The store is open from 11 a.m. to midnight daily. To contact the new Wingstop or to place take out orders, call 562-989-9464.
Sonenshine’s three new locations will open by June, two in Compton and one in Walnut Park.
Wingstop’s signature bone-in chicken wings and boneless wing strips are prepared fresh and are available in nine proprietary flavors. Both types of wings are made-to-order and there are no heat lamps, microwaves or holding bins in the store. Side dishes are made from scratch and prepared daily in each location. Party platters are available for catered events such as office parties, family gatherings and sporting events.
