Thixton’s Pet School Home Training Video is a complete home dog training obedience course that is provided in five separate lessons in the Paws Club section of www.TruthAboutPetFood.com, her pet food education website. The video teaches basic obedience exercises – heel, sit, sit stay, down, down stay, and come on command – and then takes the training steps further by teaching viewers how to apply these basic obedience lessons into daily home life. Examples of the home application shown on the video include how to properly greet company into the home, no begging at meal times, and more behavior problem solving. Partner trainer and dog behavior consultant Sharon Abbott also provides solutions and advice to solving various dog behavior issues.
The video was produced and originally released in 1997 and won several significant awards; Parent’s Choice awarded the video with the highest rating of ‘Outstanding’
Susan Thixton explains “most pet owners only want to teach their dog some manners – to not jump up on friends or not to beg at the table. That’s exactly what this video provides – a simple foundation of some obedience exercises and then more importantly how to take that foundation and apply it to the needs of your own household.” Thixton clarifies that the video is not for problem dogs – she states that this is a basic dog training course. The assistance and advice of a professional trainer is required for anything other than basic training.
