The Asia Pacific outsourcing sector posted robust growth last year, new data has revealed.
Figures from sourcing advisory firm TPI show that the number of contracts signed during 2007 was up four per cent.
Meanwhile, the total value of these deals grew by 30 per cent from $9.9 billion to $12.8 billion, the Business Standard reports.
Siddharth Pai, managing director of TPI India, said: "Asia Pacific was the only geography to show an increase across all of these measures. The average value of outsourcing contracts in Asia-Pacific increased 25 per cent from $141 million to $176 million.
"This is largely due to the increase in mega relationship activity in the region, especially in the last quarter of 2007."
Growth in the sector was driven by more and more Chinese and domestically domiciled firms, which have traditionally been markets known for provision of outsourcing, opting to outsource labour themselves, Mr Pai added.
