NEW YORK -- In between his in demand studio and touring work, Kasim has scheduled another series of solo performances to help promote the release of his 2 disc compilation set, “All Sides.” He will be launching this leg of his solo tour with a performance at the Academy Theatre in Avondale Estates on March 1st, 2008. This acoustic show will be filmed for his Official Solo DVD. Opening for Kasim at this special performance, sponsored by Rundgren Radio and Groupie Gear, is local artist Alec Roeser. Brooklyn-born Sulton began his career playing piano for David Bowie's publicist Cherry Vanilla, before joining Todd Rundgren's prog-rock group Utopia in 1976. Kasim played bass and sang vocals in the band for 10 years. During that time, they released 6 studio albums and Kasim took on more of the lead vocals of the group as well. Kasim also wrote their only Top Thirty hit, “Set Me Free.”
Kasim has been a part of Meat Loaf’s band since 1993 and in 1998 became his Musical Director. Kasim also has the distinction of being the only musician, apart from Meat Loaf, who performs on each track of all three Bat Out Of Hell albums. The first Bat Out of Hell album sold an estimated 37 million copies worldwide and Rolling Stone magazine ranked it in the top 500 greatest albums of all time. Kasim was last in Atlanta on Labor Day of 2007 where he performed in Chastian Park with Meat Loaf’s Three Bats Tour. In recent years, Kasim has also been making his name as a producer, having produced the Meat Loaf album StoryTellers in 1999, and Rick Reynolds' album Unstoppable in 2005.
Kasim released his solo album, “Quid Pro Quo,” in 2002 to critical acclaim by both critics and fans alike, and in 2003, it won the Kweevak.com Viewers’ Choice Award. Kasim’
