Los Angeles, CA- Los Angeles-based rock band The Active Set brings to Texas a new
L.A. sound with their debut EP, produced by Jason LaRocca of The Briggs. The show
is part of the South by Southwest Conference celebrations on March 14, 2008 at the
Agave Bar, 415 East 6th Street in Austin.
The SXSW MUSIC AND MEDIA CONFERENCE showcases hundreds of musical acts
from around the globe on over fifty stages in downtown Austin. By day, conference
registrants do business in the SXSW Trade Show in the Austin Convention Center and
partake of a full agenda of informative, provocative panel discussions featuring
hundreds of speakers of international stature.
The SXSW INTERACTIVE FESTIVAL celebrates the creativity and passion behind the
newest media technologies. In addition to panel sessions that cover everything from
web design to bootstrapping to social networks, attendees make new business
connections at the three-day Trade Show & Exhibition.
A new show for The Active Set has been added to the tour on March 12, 2008 at "The
Living Room" in Tucson Arizona on their way to the South by South West Conference
show. Fans in Arizona will be able to have a sneak peak at The Active Set's new EP
that includes, "Better Brigade", "Escape Act" "Truth Hurts" and "I'm not coming". All
tracks with a radiantly new perpspective on indie rock, reminiscent of The Cure and the
Smiths.
About the highly anticipated EP and tour, band leader Matthew Stolarz says: “We're
excited to come to Austin and bring audiences our upbeat take on indie. Some people
take themselves too seriously, but we believe that music can be intelligent and
energetic and can really create lasting, positive change.” “Waging a war on wasting
away” has become their motto and a message that is prevalent throughout the EP.

his vision. From England is lead guitarist Wayne Russell who dropped out of university
to move to Los Angeles. Also on guitar is Francis Ramsden, an affluent surfer with a
