The Encyclopedia Relies on the Wikipedia for Content

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Feb 07, 2008 – SpivO’s Encyclopedia channel (http://www.spivo.com/encyclopedia) is back online today with more information, clearer delivery, and plans for integration into the search module. The SpivO Encyclopedia gets information from the Wikipedia project and SpivO has not expressed any plans for changing that.

In recent weeks, once all of the new channels are launched, SpivO will start a campaign encouraging users to contribute to SpivO’s content providers like Wikipedia, ChefMoz, Dmoz, and other services that SpivO depends on for content.

SpivO’s objective is not to rebrand other provider’s content as their own. In fact, any content that is delivered from a third party source and even the technology used to integrate it is fully credited on the channel. It is SpivO’s goal to provide all of the web’s best content side by side with SpivO’s exclusive content and resources in an environment that allows users to read the content without having to jump from web site to web site.

That is what SpivO’s Jack Thomas calls “The center of the internet objective. We want all of the internet’s best, useful, content to be delivered through SpivO. Of course, we also want to bring our own new content to the web and delivering that next to the content of other sources is what makes SpivO such a valuable resource.”

SpivO’s Encyclopedia channel was behind schedule for the launch (like all soon to be released channels) due to the disconnection of SpivO Mail, which was taken offline by their former server management group after the popularity of the service exceeded the capabilities of the servers. SpivO Mail is scheduled to go back online next week.
