Feb 05, 2008 – STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - AccuWeather, Inc. today announced the launch of its "get out the vote" campaign titled Forecast Your Future: Vote! The campaign includes PSAs to be shown on the Local AccuWeather Channel digital-tier cable network and on the leading weather web site, AccuWeather.com. The PSAs feature well-known on-air talent encouraging viewers to influence their own political "forecasts" by exercising their rights as U.S. citizens to vote in the ongoing primaries and upcoming presidential elections.
"Any student of weather and history can tell you that there is great historical record of weather changing the course of historical events and even the outcome of elections," said Jim Candor, Senior Vice President of New Media for AccuWeather, Inc. "With the primaries in full swing, we want to remind viewers that while they can't control the weather, they can play a personal role in determining an election by getting out to vote."
The AccuWeather.com Forecast Your Future: Vote! web page includes a clickable U.S. map that shows citizens where they can register to vote by state as well as the PSA videos that are running on the Local AccuWeather Channel, airing on the digital tier of cable MSOs in 40 markets throughout the country. Included in the current-day 40 market station group are all ABC owned and operated stations as well as CBS, Fox, ABC, and NBC stations throughout the country.
The PSAs feature the talents of on-air weather forecasters Kate Bilo, Karah Donovan, and Katie Fehlinger.
